CANI LUNARI explores archaic feminine imagery and the magical knowledge linked to the figure of the witch, seen as an emblem of marginal and alternative wisdom. Between ritual and theatrical play, the performers dance ecstatic states and metamorphoses, evoking the porous boundary between human and more-than-human.

The hand-held embalmed crows act as spirit guides and threshold souls. The body becomes a site of intersection between dimensions, and a tale of survival. The iconography of the Salpêtrière merges with folk traditions to become living matter. Accompanied by a soundscape crafted by Vera Di Lecce – where nature, ancient chants and electronic music intertwine – CANI LUNARI is a white sabbath: a sensorial and political journey to re-enchant the world.

Bio

Francesco Marilungo, with a degree in thermo-mechanical engineering, trained at Atelier di Teatrodanza of the Paolo Grassi academy. His choreographic work weaves together body, archetypes and collective rituals and is marked by a strong anthropological approach.

With Party Girl he won the Prospettiva Danza 2020 award and was selected for the 2021 Nid Platform. Stuporosa was presented at Nid 2024 and received the UBU award for Best Dance Performance. His new project, CANI LUNARI, was awarded the Premio CollaborAction – Network Anticorpi XL.
