“The sea is a soul that unfolds without boundaries. From the waves giants are born, from the fish mermaids, from uncertain transparencies monsters and visions.” How much fear can the abyss hold for those who set out to sea? What desires are harboured in the thought of a life beyond the waves? A self-supporting structure becomes a boat in the midst of a storm, and two performers move at the boundary between dance and circus, accompanied by live music, song and spoken word — narrating the story of a shipwreck in reverse: from the moment the boat lies on the ocean floor back to the moment of departure. This time, in the end, they set sail.

Piergiorgio Milano is a multidisciplinary artist. Trained between Italy, Belgium and France, he has been creating shows and transdisciplinary projects since 2015, following a solid career as an international performer alongside artists of the calibre of James Thiérrée, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and David Zambrano. Among his earlier works: Denti, winner of the Mas Danza competition 2009, the Baltic Dance Competition 2011 and the Factory Dance Prize 2012; Pesadilla, winner of the Premio Equilibrio 2015 and nominated for the Critics’ Prize at the Festival d’Avignon and as Best Belgian Circus Show 2017. White Out (2021) toured major international stages, inaugurating a research into the relationship with landscape and the opposing forces humanity encounters. This dialogue between the human and the natural runs through a series of significant site-specific creations conceived in harmony with mountain environments and coastal landscapes, including Au Bout Des Doigts, Vague and the recent Fortuna. Since 2024 he has been an associate artist of ORBITA|Spellbound.
