MALIA – studio sull’incanto offers a lens onto the collective’s new research, guided by the word INCANTO (enchantment, spell). Drawing inspiration from the rhythms and melodies of trance music fused with the brutalism and maximalism of black metal, Parini Secondo embodies the dynamics of the wave to interweave esoteric literature with the new devices of seduction deployed in digital communication. The project will premiere in 2027 at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, of which Parini Secondo is an associate artist.
By “incanto” we mean that perceptual rapture which a person, object or action can exert upon a context and those who inhabit it. This spell produces in those who experience it a form of absolute wonder akin to petrification: the musicologist Marius Schneider defines encanto (Spanish for “pleasant enchantment”) as a stiffening of the body which, like stone, becomes a sounding board. Surrendered to the hypnotic form of the spell, what resonates is the altered state of consciousness that rediscovers the magical within the sensory world.
The movement work develops from the dynamics of the wave and the spiral to give rise to hypnotic forms. The loop created by these kinetic chains evolves through repetition that gradually transforms the bodies on stage. It is within the minimal variations of the flow that choreography takes shape, articulating the narrative through interpretative nuances that emerge from the vibration of movement. A collective presence — compact and pulsating — manifests on stage, attempting to seduce and enchant the audience.
