Nico, Desertshore is a dance concert emerging from artistic research inspired by the music, writings, and archive of Christa Päffgen, better known as Nico. The tracks from her cult 1970 album Desertshore form the sound score of the performance, in which the dancers’ bodies shape a dense and unsettling visual world. Dark atmospheres, esoteric visions, danse macabre, inner storms, and a sense of ancestral solitude inhabit the stage, evoking a haunting, desolate, and demonic imaginary.


During his residency at the IRA Institute, Giovanfrancesco Giannini will begin this new creative process together with multidisciplinary artist F. De Isabella and choreographer and dancer Roberta Racis.

Bio

Giovanfrancesco Giannini is a choreographer and dancer. His work has been presented at national and international festivals. Since 2021, he has been a supported artist of Körper – Centro Nazionale di Produzione della Danza, and in 2023/24 he was among the artists supported by R.O.M – Creative Europe.

His choreographic research explores the politics of imagery, intertwining body, gaze, and space, with references to visual art, cinema, and the political dimension of the present.
