Nu is a choreographic project freely inspired by Baroque aesthetics.
The research nourishes the contemporary Body beginning from its carnality — acutely exposed — through its beauty and its marks of suffering. A body in precarious balance that, suspended between the human and the inhuman, the angelic and the animal, releases a metamorphic fascination. Bodily sensuality sinks into reality, perceiving its fleshy density and questioning its elusive, apparent meaning. A passionate intensity that traces emotion and passion in all their shades of ambiguity, exploring the signs of the divine and its presence. Tenderness and torment, pleasure and pain, life and death — these form the inextricable weave that binds the integrity and the sacredness of Bodies.

Bio

The contemporary dance company Déjà Donné was founded in 1997 in Prague; in 2000 the company relocated to Italy, where an intense activity of creation and touring began, both nationally and internationally. In 2015, a transformation took place marking the beginning of a new chapter for the company, shaped by the artistic direction of Virginia Spallarossa and Gilles Toutevoix. Their work aims to lead Déjà Donné towards new creative possibilities, contributing to a profound renewal of its artistic language through the creation of original productions. Déjà Donné’s core activities include: the creation and production of contemporary dance shows and performances; regional, national and international distribution of its works; training activities for both professional and non-professional practitioners; the development of projects aimed at promoting contemporary dance and building audiences, also through collaboration with other artistic partners, in Italy and abroad. Déjà Donné’s work has been presented in 26 countries across North and South America, Asia and Europe. Déjà Donné’s activity is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and Regione Lombardia.
