Special K is a well-known cereal brand, the name of a WWII aircraft, and the street name for ketamine. It is a Placebo single, but above all it is the way I like to think of Kate Bush — champion of my desires and mother of my most vivid dreams. Free-spirited, dancing, sharp and multifaceted, Kate Bush has been a defining guide, one who knew how to convey the joy of being oneself. Her art has traversed music, dance and the creation of imaginary worlds, and through her charisma and playful approach she taught me to recognise my deepest desires and honour them. Coming of age artistically among a generation of great British musicians — from The Cure to Joy Division, from David Bowie to New Order — Bush carries within her the very essence of freedom, revealing herself at once vulnerable and proud, luminous and magical. This research explores the idea of “Special K” as a fluid symbol, capable of taking on multiple meanings and weaving together personal, cultural and artistic experiences: self-empowerment, the recognition of one’s own potential and the joy of embracing it, eccentric movement true to one’s brightest dreams — Bush embodies all of this. Her ability to inhabit grace and the bizarre simultaneously, with a presence that is at once clownesque and intensely pure, forges a deep connection with the ancestral, allowing her to play freely with human symbols and archetypes. The project takes the British artist as its point of departure without being confined to her: as a muse who fuses sensuality and creativity, her role will be to carry the piece through a surreal journey where dance encounters play and irony, vulnerability and discovery, freedom and joy. To transpose this vision, audio and visual elements will be integrated into the work — not only amplifying the narrative, but shaping the scenic design itself.
